Q. At what age should my child start seeing the dentist for regular check ups and does Dr. Snarr see children?

A. It is recommended that as soon as baby teeth have erupted, or for sure by age 2 1/2, the child should begin receiving regular check ups. Dr. Snarr loves to work with children as well as adults. We strive to make the first visit fun and exciting so that children will feel at ease. On occasion, a child will need to be referred to a specialist for children, or a Pedodontist.

Q. When is a Root Canal necessary and is there an alternative?

A. A Root Canal is necessary when tooth decay has caused infection into the nerves of the tooth. The alternative is to have the tooth extracted, but the first and best option is to do all that can be done to save the tooth.

Q. What is the recommended treatment following a Root Canal?

A. In most cases, a crown is recommended because a tooth tends to be more brittle and prone to breakage.

Q. What type of Teeth Whitening system is offered?

A. We offer a custom tray take-home bleaching system. You will need to come in and get an impression of your teeth and it will take approximately 24 hours to make your custom trays. The price of this service includes the molds, trays and bleach system.

Q. What is the best way to prevent cavities?

A. Brushing and flossing at least twice daily and regular cleanings (prophylaxis) and exams every six months. We recommend a soft bristle toothbrush, to be changed at least 4-5 times per year. The soft bristles are important for massaging the gums and keeping them healthy.

Q. Do you recommend fluoride treatments with children's cleanings?

A. Yes, it is recommended that children receive fluoride treatments at least once a year.
